Ravens love drafting DBs early and might have some holes to fill at CB if they move on from Humphrey this offseason.

Caleb Downs is the guy with the most hype who may fall due to position value concerns being a safety...

CB and S might be two of the stronger looking position groups in the class this year (at least right now).

If Caleb downs actually does end up a raven, then just reimagine defense entirely. You gotta get a dominant NT to pair with trav, and you’re basically never fielding more than 1 true LB. Hamilton and downs would be the “OLB” tandem and you’d run a 4-3 or a 3-3 with a standup edge exclusively.

I would fucking hate seeing a safety in round 1 but being a ravens fan I’m already prepared to see Caleb downs fall and we just can’t fucking help ourselves. But I can’t say there wouldn’t be a justification, just at that point we’d have to go all in on a defensive revolution where you say fuck LBs aside from 1 Mike, no need for the Mike to do much in coverage besides bumping crossers and picking up RBs.

he tore his ACL in January, but Jermod McCoy... WOW

awesome prospect
I just fired up some highlights, dude his pick against OU was insane. He was in the flat in cover 2, and made a pick like 15 yards deep on the hash mark. they had the RB jammed in traffic so the flat wasn’t much concern, and he read the deep over route from the opposite of the field, stayed out of sight until the ball was in the air and broke on it, he was at the 45 when the ball was released and he went deep and picked it on almost the 30.

Fucking insane cover 2 snap

you'd be looking at 3 safety nickel as base on an every down basis
or you'd be looking at 3-4 safety dime as you say with only 1 LB

wouldn't be a total revolution because it would be pretty non-replicable because you need the superstar multiple guys who are physically able to play basically as LBs as well as nickels and safeties and kyle hamilton and caleb downs don't grow on trees

You guys talking me into Caleb Downs & Kyle Hamilton safety set.

You get yourself a strong DL and that could be nasty.

i genuinely think if we'd drafted simmons or someone else over starks last year, downs would be the favourite outcome of most

unfortunately 2 1st round picks at safety in 2 years when you already have hamilton really feels hard to swallow

but then again, hamilton and downs are both more than safeties anyway - they're impact nickel defenders

That’s true. It does feel like there’s DB fatigue and I can’t blame anyone. I’m a big fan of going for special talents. You can always find a way to get talented players on the field.

My top guy for us is Bain or Reese but I wouldn’t be angry at Downs. I’m not big on a first round OL unless it’s to replace Ronnie Stanley. I don’t like taking guards with top 15 picks.

I’m not even sure our OL is as bad as people say. A year before it was great. I think it’s more coaching that the unit underperformed

i think the fact we're picking in the top 15 means we're probably not taking a OG - only way we take an OL is if they're an OT and we end up shifting them to OG to get the best 5 on the field

but would not be shocked if we went OG in any round outside of R1 - the G play this year was really bad

That I agree with completely. I think G is a huge need outside round 1. And I’d be OK drafting a OT to play LG for a year or swing to LT if Ronnie gets hurt. I personally like Vinson and Bullock and Jones. One of them should be able to handle one G spot and we draft a guy high to man the other. I think they just need better coaching though.

i'd ideally want them to bring in a cheap vet to be depth/compete with the young guys too

Man find us another edge and a DT and I’m sold. It’s wild when your LBs can man cover a slot receiver all up and down the field

If we draft fano or Mauigoa at 14 nobody will be complaining
