the other thing of course is that if we make it to the superbowl itll be extra painful if we lose - so knowing beforehand that were gonna lose id want to eschew that painful experience
I prefer my team get to the super bowl and lose. At least we were one of two teams that got there. That and we would be knocking the Pats (most likely) out.

Buffalo sabotaging themselves is great for us. If we can get there then why not. I highly doubt we have a shot at any of the top QBs anyway so the higher draft pick means little to me.

I would MUCH rather lose to pitts-burgh than the patriots. 100 times out of 100.

I doubt we could even pull the trigger when we are locked into Flacco for at least 3 more years just due to the contract.

technically we can get rid of him in the offseason of 2019 so he'd have the rest of this year and next year guaranteed on the team - however if we were going to get rid of him its far more likely in 2020 when the dead cap is much more manageable

im a very competitive person and a gambler and from all my experiences, especially poker.... i learned that its best to just wait your turn. right now we have Ace high( being our defense) with a 2 kicker( being our offense)... and everyone other playoff team has Ace high and atleast a 7 kicker.

flacco is terrible. Worst starting qb outside of kizer. No way we have a chance in playoffs vs jax,kc,chargers( i think they could make it) or even titans

i mean here's some qbs who are worse than flacco straight off the top of my head even this year:

deshone kizer, jay cutler/matt moore (whoever the dolphins put out there), tom savage, brett hundley, brock osweiler, nate peterman (does he even count?)...

Defense wins Championships in January. We will keep things close if we happen to make it, but guess what January means? January Joe. Yeah we've haven't made the playoffs since 2014 but what happened? We beat Pittsburgh in in Pittsburgh for the first time, and nearly beat the Patriots once again in Foxboro. The 2017 defense is better than the defense we had in 2014, every AFC playoff team has their flaws and if we can get things together on offense, we can do some damage.

I voted for reaching the SuperBowl. If we reach the SuperBowl, it'd mean that our offense would have to iron out their wrinkles, somebody would have to step up, if not multiple players. And their level of success could very well spill into the following season. The same goes for coaching.

well i counted their actual starters. Watson, arod, tannheill, tyrod taylor lol. So yea flacco is the worst other than kizer.

You're high to think that Watson, Tannehill, and Tyrod are better than Flacco. Watson has played only a handful of games, Tyrod got benched because the FO thought Peterman would be a better option and he went and threw 5 picks, and Tannehill is Tannehill.

I totally agree with this statement and have mentioned it someone on this board. The dead cap is just two much to handle over the next couple of seasons, even if it’s broken up over two seasons.

In the past, I've always thought it was better to miss the Super Bowl than to lose it because nobody really remembers who lost in the playoffs, but a Super Bowl loss is etched in history. I've also always considered the season fairly successful if we get to the playoffs and come out with a single win. This year I'm feeling different. I'm voting Super Bowl loss. That might primarily be because of the joy of the 2 weeks leading up to it, but also because it means Pittsburgh and New England had to suffer losses (likely both to us) on the way there. That in and of itself would be quite satisfying and *maybe* worth the Super Bowl loss.

im not high on anyone im just very low in flacco. Its not even a debate anymore, flacco is terrible

The way I see it, most of the money we're paying Flacco right now is dead cap money. We're paying a lot of money to get very little quarterback. He's playing only a little better than a few guys who most likely won't play again after this season and all those teams are planning to improve their situation.

A team would have to be crazy to plan to go into next season with a QB playing as badly as Joe. Never mind planning to start him for two more years.

If you had an appliance that almost killed you every time you used it, would you carry on using it just because you still had to make payments? Or stick it in a cupboard as a back up and find a cheaper but more functional replacement?

Your analogy make perfect sense but I just don't see Harbaugh benching Flacco. I'm hoping we at least bring in someone who can actually threaten Joe's job in the off season. I just don't see anyone doing so unless we draft a QB high and even then he probably wouldn't win the job since Harbaugh almost refuses to play rookies
