Steve Bisciotti comments about the team

3 straight missed playoffs will make any fan or owner upset. Let’s not forget we have not won the division in 5 years which Biscotti pointed out a while ago. The Giants “Let Go” of Tom Caughlin after 4 straight missed post-seasons after winning 2 superbowls. I know people will say that he missed the playoffs plenty of times and more often then Harbaugh but winning a Super Bowl will make an owner forget a lot of things. After they won Super Bowl 46 John Mara said that he wouldn’t trade Tom Caughlin for any coach in the NFL but after four straight missed playoffs, he forgot all about that. Personally I doubt Harbaugh gets fired this year, but next year will be do or die for him and Joe.

One thing that I want to point out is that as the head coach, Harbaugh has the final say on who the coordinators and positional coaches are. You know how you love to complain about MM and all the other bad coordinators and how our positional coaches suck? Yeah, that's Harbaugh's doing.

If we look at his coaching tree, I know that Pagano became a HC out of Baltimore, Teryl Austin is a DC, and Ted Monachino is now a DC. Leslie Frazier is back to being a DC, but I can't entirely credit that to Harbaugh because Frazier was a HC and DC before coming to Baltimore, so it was only a matter of time. Mike Pettine was around before John Harbaugh, but got a job as a DC after Harbaugh came on board; do we count him?

Offensively, the only guys to move on for a bigger gig after the Ravens were previous OCs or HCs. Think Hue Jackson (previous OC), Jim Caldwell (HC), and Gary Kubiak (HC/OC) as the only two offensive coaches that had been poached and promoted elsewhere. On the flip side, Marc Trestman and Cam Cameron can't even find jobs anywhere, even at the college ranks.

I think Harbaugh should take blame for such poor offensive staffing. He's clearly got a background in special teams and defensive play, and it shows.

I actually don't get his comments. I mean, do the majority of fans really want the Top 3 gone? Harbs, Oz and Flacco? Right now I just want Marty gone and a real OC. Then let's see where we are. That doesn't mean those Top 3 are above criticism and they certainly deserve some, but I'm not about firing them all.

I noticed Steve didn't comment on his coordinators though.

I would keep Ozzie and start over fresh at QB and HC, personally. I think the Ravens have a lot of really good building blocks for a new coach to work with.

We are on the same page here. HC change would definitely carry with it coordinator changes, which is a big plus in my eyes.

I think with a real OC Flacco will be fine. I am not interested in going through the QB crap years again just yet.

I would just love to see an offensive minded guy running the team instead of Harbaugh. All of the building blocks are there on defense, but I’m just so tired of trotting out a putrid offense year in and year out. I’d be fine with Harbaugh if he can find another Kubiak though.

Well, the guy Harbs replaced was the great offensive mind brought in to help the offense. Not that I'm against hiring a offensive guy as HC, it just doesn't always help the offense.

Especially when they typically give up the rains of OC to manage the entire team. I’d be ok with either OC or DC, but we can’t just assume a great OC means a great coach. Teryl Austin would probably be my first choice if we make a change.

I think there is no way harbaugh is gone this season if we miss the playoffs and miss again next year then I think there are talks

I will bet money that not only is Harbaugh safe this season, regardless of how it ends up, but he will only be fired if playoffs are missed next year.
If we miss the playoffs this year - and something tells me we will - I sure hope you're wrong like you have never been in your life.

I would try to give Flacco a good OL and a good OC for one year and be sure of what's left in the tank.

So not being a fan of a team for more than 15 years means you’re not allowed to criticize? I’ve been a Ravens fan for 12 years, and I’m entitled to an opinion.

I agree, you are. And if the playoffs are missed this year it means 3 straight no playoffs and 4 of last 5 yrs. I don't think anybody is dumped this year unless by seasons end. None of the investments are paying off. As in Free agents and draft picks. And Biscotti can't see the team playing better. But he probably gives next year for things to pay off. And for the record if not for Kubiak ravens don't make the playoffs in 2014. It took a career year from Joe Flacco which he did under Kubiak. And a journeyman back up runner made the pro bowl with nearly 1300 yards.

Well, I would argue the offensive line this year has been pretty good and has been for most of his career. As for an OC, that's on Harbaugh to make happen. Plus, what is a new OC going to do if players flat out can't execute?

When the OL has been good Flacco has usually been good. We all know Flacco is horrible when under pressure. 9 times out of 10 when he is flushed the play is over.
There's a lot of things he can't do and a few things he does very well. I think it would be easier to find an OC that can capitalize on his strengthes and strengthen the OL to help him than bank on a new QB and HC to come in and give us new life. If it doesn't work then we know who to blame and we can draft a new QB who'll get a good supporting cast.

flacco is going to be 33 next season.

does not seem wise to bank on an aging player who has been trending downwards for 3 seasons now tbh......
