Don't know targets and if they're move up or move back situations, but they are VERY open to moving around tonight
I was gonna say just this. He is in full control.except harbs has final say in the NYG building - that was part of his negotiation, he wants control of the team-building
they very much are his picks
So Malik has already hit Diva WR.... yeah he's going to be in Harbaugh's dog house.
I'm speculating based on minimal information, but I think they see the talent still out there and are considering the cost to go get it. Think there's also a world where they'd like to make an additional pick tonight, and that may be with a trade back from 45 and an additional trade up using some of those resources.if i were to look at this class as a whole, those 5th rounders are great, but unless we're getting guys in the top 150 of this class, i dont know that we're getting value with the volume of day 3 picks this year
if we could pick up extra R4 picks, extra 2027 picks or even extra day 2 picks then i'd advocate for that
not saying we should just throw picks away, but the next 3 rounds are the sweet spot in this class and (based on my board) we're right towards the end of a tier of prospect right now that it might be worth packaging a 5th or 2 to ensure we get a better calibre of prospect than if we sit and wait at 45
depending on who's available at 45, i could definitely see us trading back too if the top 6/7 guys remaining go
WHAT?! He said the GM reports to him?except harbs has final say in the NYG building - that was part of his negotiation, he wants control of the team-building

WHAT?! He said the GM reports to him?
Ok well sorry yall. I was ignorant of that fact.he didnt say it
it was negotiated as part of his HC deal
I would love to see Omar Khan’s reaction when Lemon asked him why Philly calling him.
Jon Gruden at Raiders springs to mindOk well sorry yall. I was ignorant of that fact.
Has that literally ever happened? That's nutty
Quite often for coaches of that statureOk well sorry yall. I was ignorant of that fact.
Has that literally ever happened? That's nutty
The funniest part to me was the GM having the reaction "its just words on a piece of paper". Those words are basically the contract that guides the team so its a little more than just words.Ok well sorry yall. I was ignorant of that fact.

That seems like a truly stupid business decision. All that does is alienate the GM and produce weird power structures that the overwhelming majorty of people at the "company" are going to be unfamiliar with. It also, and rightfully so, puts nearly all of the blame on the HC. It's already an extremely stressful and difficult job, that is exacerbated by doing that. I didn't realize that this was somewhat common but that's truly baffling to me.Quite often for coaches of that stature
I didn't see this before making my last post. But the GM saying that quote you provided is EXACTLY what I was getting at in the last post. I can't believe there's just direct evidence of the shitshow like that out there. Wow wow wowThe funniest part to me was the GM having the reaction "its just words on a piece of paper". Edit: also its not that uncommon as others have noted. When you are a consensus top 5 coach you can make extra demands and one of those demands is often "I want final say over how the roster is built".
Usually there isn't an incumbent GM that has had the power that stays around in those types of situations. They usually find a lackey to fill the position. Difference here is that Schoen was willing to take the "demotion"That seems like a truly stupid business decision.
